Bangladesh Army Buying LARGE Number of Armored Combat Vehicles From Turkey

A Turkish defense contractor Delta Defence has been awarded Bangladesh Army’s armored vehicles contract. According to a latest news Directorate General Defense Purchase (DGDP) published a contract that revealed that 680 Light Armored Vehicles (LAV) will be procured for the Bangladesh Army. Among those armored vehicles 600 are Tur-K2 and 80 are Tur-K3, which are based on the Ukrainian Practika designed Kozak-2M 4×4 and Otaman 8×8 armored vehicles respectively.

Bangladesh Army (BA) enhancing troop mobility capabilities to a new level by purchasing various types (air, land and riverine) tactical military transport platforms. BA already operating a large number of Russian & Ukrainian built BTR-80, BTR-82s along with some other APCs. This new APC acquisition is a largest one in BA history which worth $1 billion.

Delta Defence is subjected to delivery first 100 vehicles in 2018, 150 in 2019 and fulfill the whole total 680 within 2021. Within next nine months from the contract signing date Delta Company shall delivery those 80 Otaman 8×8 armored vehicles to the Bangladesh Army.

These LAVs are very much capable to carry 10-12 Special Operations Forces troops to the conflict zone. So, it can be assumed easily that BA would utilize these combat vehicles to fight any asymmetric, non-conventional threat. The land mass of Bangladesh is composed up of soft earth plain where heavy tanks will not be moved swiftly. To fight any war in this terrain medium weight tanks and armored combat vehicles are the best suited ones. Hence Bangladesh Army purchasing more armored military vehicles to increase its mobility capabilities.

Army announced that they are going to manufacture Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) in Bangladesh very soon. Info about the design or model isn’t available yet, though, it is safe to believe that Bangladeshi homemade APC will be of any Chinese or Russian designed one. In the coming years Bangladesh will build many of her weapons and military equipment in home. Processing and steps needed are being taken in due priority.

New RECRUIT: Thousands of Posts Has Been Created In Bangladesh Army’s 10th Infantry Division

Bangladesh Army Created 10+ Thousand Posts of Various Ranks for 10th Infantry Division at Ramu Cantonment in Cox’s Bazar.

10884 new posts has been created in the newly formed 10th Infantry Division. This new division of Bangladesh Army has been raised and established in the Ramu Cantonment in cox’s Bazar. There are 15 ranks among those 10K new posts. This is the southernmost military installation of Bangladesh. There are another cantonment being built at Patuakhali’s Lebukhali area just beside of Bangladesh Navy’s biggest under construction naval base.

All the official procedures for these new posts appointment has been done by the Government of Bangladesh by passing the bill at cabinet meeting. These development will complete in next six fiscal years step by step.

Bangladesh Army has established Cox’s Bazar’s Ramu cantonment to ensure all round security of the country’s vital civil-military infrastructures at there. Pekua submarine base, world’s longest sea beach and many other important things are there in the Cox’s Bazar area of Bangladesh which needs all round protection. On the other side, most of the drugs, illegal migration, smugglings are happened through Teknaf district from myamnmar to Bangladesh which has to be stopped at any cost Dhaka thinks. For all these reasons Bangladesh stationed military there.

These massive recruitment will be completed through six years span due to economical constraints. Among new man power, Army will also buy 1300+ military vehicles for the 10th Infantry Division. Development of the area almost nearing end and all facilities will be available soon. This recruitment is the largest expansion in the terms of man power of the Bangladesh Army. This expansion happening per the “Forces goal -2030”.

Bangladeshi Shipyard Will Build Two Landing Craft Tank (LCT) For Bangladesh Army

Bangladesh Army Awarded Western Marine Shipyard A Contact To Build Two Landing Craft Tank

DGDP, Bangladesh ordered two LCT for Army. These contract was awarded to Western Marine Shipyard Ltd. LCTs are the vessels carry and land main battle tanks, APCs, IFVs, ACVs and many military vehicles. Bangladesh Army’s LCTs can be able to carry 200 soldiers along with 40 officers, while it’s main role of carrying MBTs are 8 in number.

A deal was signed between managing director of WMS and Deputy Director Purchase (Army Wing-1) Col. Chowdhury Fazle Ali. Total program costs around 770 million BDT.

These Landing Craft Tanks are 64 meter in length. Can operate in the stormy shores of Bangladesh and riverine regions too. These vessels will boost Bangladesh Army’s combat operational capabilities into a new height. In future more LCTs will be built in home. Previously such two LCT was built by the Naraynganj Dry Dock Limited for the Bangladesh Navy.

Bangaldesh pushed for an indigenous naval shipbuilding industry. Previously Khulna Shipyard was the sole builder of navy warships, and then NDDL came forward. Now, the good news is that this trend of manufacturing warships comes to the privately owned shipyards of Bangladesh. It will help the country’s economy and reduce reliance on foreign manufacturers.

It is worth to mention that China solely helped Bangladesh to start the modernization of warship building facilities of Bangladeshi shipyards. And they also providing warship designing assistance to us. In future Chittagong Dry Dock Limited goinf to build High Performance heavy frigates in Bangladesh which design and technical assistances will be provided by the Chinese warship builder CSIC.

In the last, but not in least, I want to mention here that Bangladesh Army increasing their tactical military cargo transport capabilities by acquiring new and advanced transport platforms. BA going to receive its biggest military transport aircraft C295W which is now in under trial flights in Spain. Army seeking a parallel transport capabilities in air, land and water. Bangladesh Army Going To Manufacture Advanced Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System In Home (Bangladesh)

Government decided to build an indigenous defense industries to produce high-tech military equipment and thus, Bangladesh Army started a project to manufacture GMLRS in home.

Bangladesh Ordinance Factory (BOF) and Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF) jointly will assemble “Guided-Multiple Launch Rocket System” (GMLRS) for the Bangladesh Army.

Primarily medium range MLRS will be assembled under license from some Chinese manufacturer. And for this purpose army has started to negotiate with several Chinese military vehicle manufacturers for suitable launcher vehicle.

Bangladesh Armed Forces finalized a modernization plan dubbed as “Forces Goal – 2030”. Under this plan Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force started purchasing various military equipment. And initiated various defense program to produce possible military hardware in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Army has 2500-3000 ATGMs & rockets in its current inventory and evaluating for a new ATGM for its anti-tank force.

Bangladesh Army ATGM inventory consists of 3 types of missiles and a rocket & gun system too. Currently BA deployed Kornet-E, Metis-M1 & HJ-8 Anti-tank guided missiles & PF98 Anti-tank rockets to deter against any mechanized infantry invasion. Russian missiles are much effective against main battle tank.

Anti-tank force is a vital part of any army’s artillery force. Bangladesh currently beefing up its anti-tank warfare force with second and third generation ATGMs. Currently three types of ATGM and an ATW rocket + one anti-tank gun system are in active service with Bangladesh Army.

Bangladesh Armed Forces being upgraded under “Forces Goal — 2030” along with its command formation system and advanced military equipment. Army got 44 MBT-2000 main battle tanks almost one and half decade ago. Now they got Nora B-52K1 self-propelled howitzer guns, surface-to-air missile systems, C295W military transport aircraft, Mi-171Sh armed combat helicopters, and many more.

Russia Offered Bangladesh Navy A New Type of Multipurpose Stealth Frigate, Advanced Submarine, Armored Combat Vehicles, Missiles for Bangladesh Armed Forces. Russia to increase military equipment sale to Bangladesh. Recently BAF ordered 8 Su-30SME, bought Yak-130, Bangladesh Army bought ATGMs, and now Bangladesh Navy may buy Russian warships and submarines.

Russia offered Bangladesh Navy (BN) a totally new type of stealth frigate. Moscow also offered Bangladesh submarines, armored vehicles, missiles and many more. A high powered Russian delegation visiting Dhaka to discuss multi-billion dollar weapons deal with Bangladesh Armed Forces.

Bangladesh Navy was lacks behind form operating Russian origin equipment from other two branches of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Now, after inducting two Chinese refurbished submarines Bangladesh Navy maybe going for new type of Russian stealth frigates. This is maybe the Admiral Gorshkov Class multipurpose frigate designed to engage with various types of threats. It’s a Project 22350 type frigate which Russia offering for export to the allied nations.

Bangladesh Navy also building an air arm comprising various types of fixed and rotary wing aircrafts. BN already operating 2 Dornier Do-228NG Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), AW139 Maritime Search and Rescue (MSAR) helicopters, ordered two AW159 Wildcat ASW-ASuW helicopters, Chinese Z-9 ASW and utility helicopters. BAF has ordered eight Russian Sukhoi Su-30SME super flanker fighter jets for maritime and naval strike aircraft to give air support to Bangladesh Navy.

Russia is one of the closest and reliable ally of Bangladesh from her birth. In recent years Bangladesh Army has bought a large amount of high-tech weapons and systems from Russian manufacturers. Bangladesh Air Force also the large one buyer for Russian fighter jets, fighter trainer, and such military equipment.

Bangladesh building a three-dimensional navy from 2001 and still modernization process going on. Already it becomes a tri-dimensional force and protecting our national interests in the Bay of Bengal region from evil eyes. Bangladesh Army Studied Russian Pantsir S1 Surface-to-Air Missile/Gun System to Secure Military & Civil Installations

Bangladesh Army (BA) will buy Russian Pantsir S1 Surface-to-Air Missile Gun system.

Bangladesh Military power increasing by acquiring most advanced weapons systems. Bangladesh Air Force already deployed Chinese FM-90B SHORAD system. Russian Pantsir S1 is an incredible air defense system which will boost Bangladesh’s defense capabilities.

Low to extremely low flying aerial targets can be engaged with high probabilities of hit by this SAM system.  Pantsir S1 can detect, track and hit aircrafts, helicopters, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, UAVs etc. It has a limited capabilities to engage ground targets too. This SAM system can fire some armor-piercing projectiles.

The 30mm dual cannon designed from the aircraft gun and its rounds has a maximum range of 4km while minimum is 2 meter. This dual gun system has firing speed of 5000 rpm and can carry 1400 rounds in its cell and it’s fully automated.

Russian Air Defense Forces and Aerospace Forces has deployed the Pantsir System. Until 2014, reports said that 200 Pantsir S1 surface-to-air missile and gun system has been delivered to the Russian Armed Forces.

Besides Russia Pantsir S1 SAM batteries has been deployed by the armed forces of Algeria, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Syria, UAE, Vietnam. If Bangladesh Army acquire this system it would be a great leap forward to build a formidable air defense force to protect our national interests and ensure our national security.
